I am an assistant professor in the Philosophy Department at UCLA, working in ethics and in social and political philosophy. I completed my Ph.D. in Philosophy at NYU in 2016; before that, I did a BA in Classics at Yale. I’m currently writing about how our ideas about what makes for a good conversation interact with our conceptions of the self. I’ve also recently been working on the differences between aesthetic and moral criticism; another current research project concerns our affective responses to environmental devastation. In the past few years, I have taught seminars on Hannah Arendt, Plato, and the history of humanism.
